This unique 1930’s historic adobe home in Santa Fe’s east side was one worthy of an energy upgrade and modernization. The project consisted of the total gut remodel of the original 1400 square foot home and a total rebuild of the electrical and plumbing systems with the inclusion of a high efficiency on demand water heater and energy efficient lighting. As well, a master bedroom and bath addition of about 1000 square feet was build with advanced OVE (Optimum Value Engineering) framing techniques to save wood, viga ceilings and blown in cellulose insulation. Furthermore the entire home (old and new) was wrapped in spray applied foam insulation to create a high thermal performance envelope. All windows and doors are ENERGY STAR rated. The original viga ceilings were refurbished as were the original hardwood oak floors. Interior walls were finished with new plasters and all appliances and plumbing fixtures were replaced with high efficiency units. A beautiful upgrade to an old gem.
